Unbury the Life You Want Limmud

Delivering a baby. Appearing on Oprah. Having drinks with Prince Harry. Posing for renaissance painting in Italy. Playing basketball with Barack Obama… What do you want to do before you die?

This is a question that Ben Nemtin and a group of three other guys asked themselves nearly ten years ago, working to create a bucket list of the 100 things they wanted to do before they die. Although their adventure simply started out as a way to accomplish their wildest dreams, it quickly turned into something much more. After beginning to receive national news for their incredible feats done solely on their own—such as making their way on to Oprah‘s show and playing basketball with the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama—this group of best friends begin to realize that they had something incredible going, an opportunity to fully become capable of doing something, not only for themselves, but to help others achieve their wildest dreams as well.

When presented with this new opportunity and platform to do something good, they fully began to take advantage of it, helping a new person accomplish their dreams each time that they completed another item on their bucket list. In addition, they have done incredible things beyond inspiring others to take full advantage of their time on earth. Specifically, they’ve begun to use their newfound fortune to donate money to individuals and organizations that focus on helping others achieve their dreams. With all the things these young men have been able to complete, they have made sure to constantly bring their message back to the idea that happiness is only real when it is shared.

In the session, Ben shared with us incredible stories of success and helping others, in addition to inspiring us to reach for our own dreams. Everyone present will be sure to take this message with us forever.

So, what do you want to do before you die?

Here are the six steps Ben provided us with to determine the answer:

  1. Think about what is important to you.
  2. Write your list.
  3. Talk about your list.
  4. Have creative persistence.
  5. Be audacious.
  6. Help others.

With the story and example of truly living provided by Ben and the rest of his crew, he showed all of us that we truly can accomplish anything.
